A Year to Be Proud

3–4 minutes

2026–2027 Enrollment is Open!

We’re excited to be preparing for another year of Riverside Forest School!

Forest School meets Tuesdays and Thursdays from 3:00–5:00 PM (pickup by 5:30 PM) at Riverside State Park’s Bowl and Pitcher.

Tuition: $190/month

We offer pickup from select schools along our route from Rubén Trejo Dual Language Academy to Westview Elementary. If you’re reasonably along our route, we’re happy to pick up your child. If not, families are welcome to meet us at a designated meetup location before we head to the park.

What We Do (and Why)

At Riverside Forest School, children spend their afternoons exploring the natural world while learning the skills that help us build joyful, connected lives.

Our daily mini-lessons are woven into our adventures and center around community, belonging, radical self-acceptance, diversity and inclusion, mindfulness, creativity, and caring for one another and the world around us.

We believe these are essential building blocks for joyful lives.

Joyful Learning. Joyful Lives.

We are proudly strictly secular and warmly welcome children and families of all beliefs, cultures, identities, and traditions.

We follow the Spokane Public Schools academic calendar, with optional camps offered during several school breaks.

Our 2026–2027 Theme: A Year to Be Proud

This year we’ll spend each month exploring a different way we can be proud—not because we’re perfect, but because we’re growing. Together, we’ll discover that every person has gifts worth celebrating and that our differences make our community stronger.

🌱 September — Proud to Face Change

We’ll begin the year by getting to know one another, learning (or reviewing) our community agreements, and building the foundation for a safe, joyful, and welcoming Forest School community.

🍂 October — Proud of My Imagination

Imagination helps us solve problems, create beauty, and see new possibilities. Through stories, art, games, and open-ended exploration, we’ll celebrate the incredible creativity every child carries within them.

Imagination Camp: October 19–23 | Cost: $250

🍁 November — Proud of My Family

Families come in many beautiful forms. We’ll celebrate what makes each of our families unique while learning that love, care, and belonging are what truly make a family.

❄ December — Proud of My Traditions

December is filled with traditions from many cultures and faiths. We’ll share our own traditions, learn about celebrations from around the world, and discover the many ways people create meaning and connection.

World Traditions Camp: December 28–31 | Cost: $200

⭐ January — Proud of My Accomplishments

A new year is the perfect time to reflect on how far we’ve come. We’ll celebrate perseverance, growth, and the courage to keep trying—even when things are hard.

❤️ February — Proud of My Capacity for Love

Love is so much bigger than romance. We’ll explore friendship, kindness, empathy, compassion, and the many ways we can care for ourselves, one another, and the natural world.

Celebrate Love Camp: February 15–19 | Cost: $250

🌿 March — Proud of Balance

As we approach the spring equinox, we’ll explore balance in nature and in ourselves. We’ll practice balancing movement with rest, excitement with calm, and caring for others while caring for ourselves.

🐝 April — Proud of My Community

What makes a community strong? We’ll discover how each of us can contribute through kindness, service, stewardship, and working together to care for the places and people we love.

Celebrate Community Camp: April 15–19 | Cost: $250

🌼 May — Proud of My Growth

We’ll look back on all we’ve learned throughout the year while observing the incredible growth happening all around us in nature. We’ll celebrate both the visible and invisible ways we’ve grown.

🌈 June — Pride

Our year culminates with Pride Month as we celebrate authenticity, belonging, and the beautiful diversity of our community. Every child deserves to know that they are valued exactly as they are and that everyone belongs here.

Last Day of Forest School: June 17
