Exciting News for the 2025–2026 School Year
We’re delighted to share that Greenwood Grove is partnering with Riverside Forest School to bring our shared vision of equitable, nature-based, whole-child learning to life.
Our roots began as a licensed family home preschool, deeply inspired by the rhythms of nature, whole-brain learning, and a strong sense of community. Together with the families in our community, we’ve shaped Greenwood Grove into a warm, inclusive space rooted in nature, learning, and belonging. That community spirit is now blossoming into Riverside Forest School — an emerging nonprofit outdoor program currently in the licensing process.
While we work toward full licensure, our vision continues through Greenwood Grove’s Licensed Family Home Program. In partnership with Riverside Forest School, we are excited to offer innovative programming that deepens our commitment to access and outdoor learning for all children.
What’s Ahead for 2025–2026?
Starting September 2025, we’ll launch a new after-school program grounded in nature connection, mindfulness, and whole-brain exploration. While our licensed home remains our “home base,” the majority of our afternoons will be spent in the field — literally! Daily excursions will turn local wild spaces into classrooms of wonder and discovery.
Families will have two options for getting children to our outdoor learning space:
- Children can be picked up from school in our charming mini school bus, Hermi, or
- Families can meet us at Riverside State Park for check-in and departure.
Our plan for our Daily Rhythm
3:30–3:45 | Arrival & Transition
- Welcome song
- Emotional check-in and grounding
3:45–3:55 | Sit Spot
- A quiet moment to connect with self and surroundings
3:55–4:10 | Mindfulness & Circle
- Weekly affirmations, mindful movement or breathwork
- Rhythm, song, or shared silence to attune as a group
4:10–4:50 | Learning Through Play & Discovery
Themes will rotate and flex with the seasons, including a weekly affirmation, pre-planned lessons based on social-emotional learning, mindfulness, and community-building.
4:50–5:00 | Closing Circle
- Reflection: “One thing I’m leaving behind, one thing I’m carrying home.”
5:00–5:30 | Pick Up
Now Enrolling!
We are enrolling children ages 5–13 who are ready to adventure, grow, and co-create in community. If this sounds like a place your child could thrive, we’d love to welcome you. Our after-school program runs Monday through Friday, with planned holiday closures — please see our calendar for details. We proudly accept Washington State Working Connections Child Care subsidies — please reach out for more information about eligibility and how to apply.
